For the last 26 years I have been working in an Aerospace Factory as a CNC Machinist.
Travelling was always something other people did, it never seemed an option for me with limited days away from work and never enough spare cash left after paying for a mortgage, cars, pets etc.
Until one day I realized that I only use one room in my 3 bedroom house, the one with my PC in. But if I got a laptop I could call anywhere home and not need a mortgage.
Now if I can find a way to make money with that laptop, I won’t need to be tied to one place near where I work.
After a while, I discovered others were doing exactly that and they even have a name, Digital Nomads.
A bit more research led me to discover that there are hot spots full of digital nomads all around the world with the biggest being Chang Mai in Thailand.
The main attraction to Thailand is the low cost of living, perfect for someone trying to make an income online as there are fewer overheads, perfect climate and a large network of people doing the same thing.
So I fly to Bangkok on the 9th of January 2018 to start my adventure.
This blog is the story of my journey from factory worker to location independent digital nomad.
